THE TEACHER AS AN EVALUATOR AND MONITOR OF STUDENT PROGRESS :
ASSESSMENT
- CAEP PRINCIPAL #8: The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.
I also believe that the over-arching theme of a summer at Inner City for these children is assessment. These children were being tested and assessed on a daily basis on social development. Most of the children we see are from less than fortunate living situations that are coupled with less than perfect social influences. From day to day we, as a staff, evaluate and assess their progress and strength. If we found that one particular student needed to be led in a different direction, we had the ability and freedom to do so.
